Inside a previously unrevealed Samsung Display lab in South Korea, prototypes of future smartphone technology were showcased. These concepts included the Flex S, which folds in a Z-shape to create a tablet-sized display, and the Out Foldable, featuring exterior screens that unfold into a wider layout. The Flex Slidable concept demonstrated a rollable display that expands for more screen real estate, reminiscent of LG's previously canceled rollable phone.
Samsung also presented the Flex Hybrid, combining folding and rollable elements for a compact yet expansive design. Beyond form factors, concepts highlighted a mobile display with an exceptional 5,000-nit peak brightness, significantly higher than current models, and displays with nearly invisible 0.6mm bezels. While it remains uncertain if or when these technologies will reach consumer devices, they offer a rare glimpse into potential smartphone evolution.
