- Its dual screens offer versatile use for browsing and media consumption.
- The phone is considered a practical, eye-catching statement piece.
The Samsung Z Fold 8 has garnered significant attention for its remarkably compact and user-friendly foldable design. Measuring just 4.5 millimeters thick unfolded and weighing only 201 grams, it offers an experience that is both satisfying to hold and practical for daily use. The device features a 5.5-inch cover screen for quick tasks and a 7.6-inch inner display that provides ample space for multitasking and media consumption.
This palm-sized foldable is not only functional but also serves as an eye-catching statement piece. Despite its innovative design, the Z Fold 8 has some limitations, including only two rear cameras (a 50-megapixel wide and a 50-megapixel ultrawide), a battery that lasts a day, and a lack of built-in magnets for Qi2 charging. It is also priced at a high $1,900 starting point.
The foldable phone market is anticipated to grow, with IDC forecasting over 12% growth this year. Apple is expected to unveil its own foldable iPhone on September 9, which could either overshadow the Z Fold 8 or boost interest in the category. Industry experts suggest consumers may prioritize the foldable form factor over exact specifications for an iPhone foldable.
