12 Oct
Summary
- The Z Flip 8 offers a lighter, thinner design with an improved hinge.
- Displays, camera hardware, and battery remain largely unchanged from Z Flip 7.
- The Z Flip 8 is priced higher than its predecessor at launch.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8, released in August 2026, maintains the signature pocketable square design with an external screen but introduces several refinements. It is 8g lighter and 0.4mm thinner, featuring an improved Armor FlexHinge for easier opening and closing. The internal and external displays remain the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 7: a 6.9-inch main AMOLED panel and a 4.1-inch FlexWindow, both offering excellent visuals.
Camera hardware is also identical, with both phones sporting a 50MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, and 10MP selfie camera. The Z Flip 8 enhances video capabilities with features like Camcorder Grip and Super Steady's Horizontal Lock. Performance sees a significant boost in the Z Flip 8 with newer Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets, offering better headroom for demanding applications and AI features.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7, launched in 2025, remains a strong contender, especially given its lower price. The Z Flip 8 starts at $1,199.99 / £1,149 / AU$1,949, a $100 increase from the Flip 7's launch price. While the Flip 8 is a better choice for first-time buyers prioritizing refinements, the Flip 7 offers a mature foldable experience with substantial savings.
