Samsung's New Foldable Faces Display Woes
19 Feb
Summary
- New Galaxy Trifold phones show early signs of display failures.
- Some users report unresponsive screens after just days of use.
- Samsung offers a 50% discount on repairs for faulty devices.

The Samsung Galaxy Trifold, launched for U.S. customers in late January, is encountering critical display problems, casting doubt on its suitability as a top foldable phone. Initial reports surfaced in Korea and China in December 2025, detailing issues with the triple inner display.
As more units reach consumers, an increasing number of owners are reporting broken screens. One user claimed their Trifold's inner screen became unresponsive after only a month and a half of use, with a temporary fix achieved through rebooting. Another user experienced a complete display failure within five days, accompanied by a strange popping sound when folding.
Both affected users stated they had not subjected the device to any damaging actions like drops or excessive folding, suggesting potential hardware defects. Some speculate a software bug similar to one on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be responsible, though this has not been confirmed.
Samsung is reportedly offering refunds rather than replacements for broken Trifolds, possibly due to the device being a limited run. This situation echoes the launch issues of the original Galaxy Fold, which also suffered from screen fragility. Given these early problems, prospective buyers might consider waiting for a future iteration, such as the Trifold 2, to see if Samsung can resolve these display concerns.
