Summary

- OneUI 8.5 Beta includes early signs of AirDrop integration.

Samsung appears to be preparing to integrate AirDrop support into older Galaxy devices. Recent testing within the OneUI 8.5 Beta program has shown early signs of this compatibility, potentially extending to the Galaxy S22, S23, S24, and S25 series, as well as the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
This development follows the earlier introduction of AirDrop compatibility for the Galaxy S26 series. The feature, similar to Android's Quick Share, aims to facilitate quick wireless file transfers without an internet connection and bridge the gap between Apple and Android ecosystems.
An X user reported spotting updates to Quick Share and its modules within the beta, with some users noting a 'Share with Apple Devices' option in settings. However, this feature was not yet functional and has since disappeared, suggesting that Samsung is in the initial stages of testing.
Google's VP of Android engineering previously stated that more devices would receive this capability this year. Once fully implemented, users will be able to enable it through their device settings under Quick Share.
