Summary
- Russia has supplied India with a large industrial 3D printer for aerospace components.
- The RusBeam 2800 uses electron beam additive manufacturing technology for metal parts.
- This advanced printer will support India's human spaceflight and lunar missions.

Russia has delivered a substantial industrial 3D printer, the RusBeam 2800, to India, enhancing its capacity for aerospace component manufacturing. This machine employs Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM) technology to produce large metal parts, marking a significant upgrade for India's space program.
The acquisition is set to bolster ISRO's capabilities for ambitious missions like Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan, and the proposed Bharatiya Antariksh Space Station. The EBAM system facilitates faster, lighter, and more material-efficient production of complex components from advanced alloys, crucial for deep-space exploration.
Custom-built for India, the RusBeam 2800 is the country's largest 3D printer for electron-beam wire deposition and can create parts up to 2.8 meters tall. It operates with Rosatom-developed software and boasts a high deposition rate, capable of producing a 50 kg metal part in five hours.
This technological transfer signifies deepening cooperation between Russia and India, extending beyond nuclear energy to advanced manufacturing and space technologies. Rosatom views this as a foundational step for future international partnerships in additive manufacturing.
