7 Mar
Summary
- Gaming laptops are being listed with 12GB VRAM for RTX 5070 GPUs.
- This VRAM increase is unusual compared to the standard 8GB mobile version.
- The desktop RTX 5070 already features 12GB of VRAM.
Leaked listings from Asus and Lenovo indicate that future gaming laptops might be equipped with NVIDIA's RTX 5070 mobile graphics cards featuring 12GB of VRAM. This potential upgrade surpasses the standard 8GB VRAM found in most current mobile versions. Other retail sites, including Newegg and Best Buy, have also shown similar configurations for other gaming laptop models.
The desktop variant of the RTX 5070 already comes with 12GB of VRAM, and this expansion to the mobile version could address the growing demand for more memory in modern games. This move might also align with NVIDIA's strategy to potentially consolidate its product offerings, possibly folding the RTX 5070 Ti into the RTX 5070 to optimize GPU allocation for both consumer and data center markets.
