Summary
- New mouse replaces flick scrolling with continuous rotary dial.
- Device claims up to 2.5 times faster navigation speed.
- Also supports timeline scrubbing and game steering.

A novel input device, the Rotary Mouse, has emerged, aiming to modernize the mouse's scroll functionality. It replaces the conventional flicking scroll wheel with a continuous rotary dial, akin to turning a knob.
The creators claim this new motion can achieve speeds up to 2.5 times faster than standard scrolling. This is achieved through pressure and motion control, with the added benefit of reducing repetitive strain on users.
The device supports conventional vertical scrolling, allowing users to switch between input methods. It features an ergonomic, matte black shell, 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity, and switchable DPI settings of 800, 1200, and 1600.
Early users have found it particularly effective for timeline scrubbing in video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. Additionally, its rotary input can be mapped to steering controls in simulation racing games.
Created by engineer Melvin Wong to alleviate finger strain, the Rotary Mouse is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter. The campaign aims to begin shipping the final product by December 2026.
