Robot Vacuum Climbs Stairs Like a Spider!

At CES 2026, Dreame introduced a groundbreaking prototype, the Cyber X, a robot vacuum designed to navigate multi-story homes by climbing stairs. This innovative device features a unique leg system with rubber treads, enabling it to ascend stairs up to 25cm (9.8 inches) high and slopes as steep as 42 degrees. The company claims it can conquer a full flight of stairs in just 27 seconds, incorporating a laser navigation system and a braking mechanism for stability.

While the Cyber X is currently a research prototype, Dreame has a track record of bringing innovative concepts to market. This follows their previous exhibition of a vacuum with a mechanical arm. The company also launched the Dreame X60 Max Ultra, their latest flagship robot vacuum. This model can manage smaller obstacles, rolling over steps up to 8.8cm (approximately 3.4 inches) and is priced at $1,699.

The X60 Max Ultra represents an improvement over its predecessor, which could clear heights of 6cm (about 2.4 inches). While not capable of navigating full-size stairs, its enhanced mobility allows it to easily overcome common household thresholds and minor impediments, offering greater flexibility in automated cleaning. Dreame is expected to demonstrate the Cyber X's capabilities further at its CES booth.
