Roblox Unveils Digital Wallet for Creator Payments

Roblox, the popular gaming platform, announced the introduction of a digital wallet designed to expedite payments to its creators. This new feature, unveiled during the company's annual developer conference, will allow creators to automatically receive daily real-world revenue from their games, a departure from the previous system that required manual conversion of virtual currency and involved payment delays. The Roblox Wallet will be accessible to adult creators in the United States beginning in December. International rollout is slated for 2027, coinciding with the launch of an associated payment card. The company has clarified that the wallet will function as a financial account managed by Airwallex, not as a bank. Since 2013, Roblox has distributed over $5 billion to its creators. The platform is also enhancing user experience by enabling games to be launched directly from the Chrome browser via a shared link by the end of the year, with plans for standalone app distribution and an offline mode. Roblox is actively exploring artificial intelligence, with its AI-powered Build tool currently in testing stages in Serbia and Singapore. The company's CEO aims to capture a significant portion of the global video game market. Roblox continues to navigate regulatory scrutiny regarding children's safety, facing inquiries and lawsuits in the United States and stricter digital services regulations from the European Commission. The company forecasts a drop in player purchases for the current quarter and has seen a substantial decrease in its share price from its peak.
