22 Oct
Summary
- Ring Floodlight Cam 2K offers sharp 2K video and bright 2,000-lumen LEDs.
- Accessing recorded video and AI features requires a monthly subscription.
- Eufy E340 floodlight camera is recommended as a subscription-free alternative.
The Ring Floodlight Cam 2K provides a bright, 2,000-lumen illumination alongside sharp 2K video resolution. This outdoor camera includes AI features such as Familiar Faces and Single Event Alerts. Its design is weather-resistant, and it captures color footage even in low light, switching to infrared for night vision.
The primary drawback for the Floodlight Cam 2K is its reliance on a subscription service for key functionalities. Accessing recorded video history, utilizing Smart Alerts, and other advanced features require a Ring Protect plan, with costs varying by subscription tier.
Compared to its predecessor, the 2K model offers enhanced video quality and AI capabilities. Despite these improvements, the ongoing subscription costs make it less appealing than competitors. The Eufy E340 Floodlight Camera is noted as a strong alternative, offering dual lenses and pan-and-tilt features without mandatory subscription fees.
