Reddit Cracks Down on Old Reddit Access

Reddit is implementing stricter measures to limit access to its 'Old Reddit' interface, aiming to curb scraping and automated abuse. In the coming months, users will be required to have logged in and actively used Old Reddit within the preceding six months to maintain access to the classic experience. This initiative follows recent successes in reducing bot activity through a mandatory login policy.

Furthering these efforts, Reddit will discontinue support for RSS feeds on November 13th, citing their frequent exploitation for large-scale scraping. The platform is also enforcing deadlines for its Developer Platform transition. API access for unregistered apps will be removed by January 12th, with all remaining public API access concluding in March 2027. These changes underscore Reddit's ongoing commitment to protecting its data and user experience from automated threats.
