- The rediscovered consoles were mostly functional, using NES controllers.

A remarkable discovery has been made in Japan, where a retro gaming enthusiast known as 'Orochi' located a stash of fully functional Nintendo Famicombox units. Originally released in 1986, the Famicombox was an 8-bit system intended for hotel use, featuring the ability to hold 16 game cartridges and operate on a coin or time-based payment system.
Orochi reported finding the Famicombox units installed in nearly every room of a Japanese love hotel. Testing revealed that most games were playable, with the exception of those requiring the Zapper accessory, which is incompatible with modern LCD televisions. Notably, these particular Famicombox consoles used NES controllers and cartridges, rather than the Japanese Famicom versions.
