Summary
- World's first rack-mounted quantum computer for enterprise use launched.
- Operates from a standard single-phase 1.6kW wall socket.
- Uses an integrated cryocooler, eliminating external cryogenic plumbing.

A groundbreaking development in quantum computing has been announced with the unveiling of the world's first deployable silicon-spin hybrid quantum-classical computer, engineered by Equal1 and Dell. This prototype, named RacQ, is designed to seamlessly integrate into existing data center infrastructure by fitting within a standard 19-inch rack. This innovative approach aims to eliminate the need for specialized facilities often associated with quantum technology.
The RacQ system boasts remarkable energy efficiency, operating from a standard single-phase 1.6kW wall socket, comparable to high-end classical servers. It eliminates the requirement for external cryogenic plumbing through its integrated close-cycle cryocooler, maintaining an operating temperature of 0.3 Kelvin. This design significantly simplifies deployment and operation for enterprises.
Powered by UnityQ, a quantum system-on-chip utilizing standard semiconductor processes, RacQ is positioned as a co-processor. It will work alongside classical systems and GPUs to accelerate specific computational workloads, rather than replacing existing infrastructure. Dell's role as an infrastructure layer and systems integration partner is crucial for facilitating these hybrid computing environments.
