Summary
- QuantumDiamonds secured €76 million in non-dilutive funding.
- Their technology inspects chips in two minutes, down from weeks.
- The startup uses synthetic diamonds for precise defect detection.

QuantumDiamonds, a German startup, has secured €76 million in non-dilutive funding from Germany's federal economy ministry and Bavaria. This funding will establish a new facility in Munich for semiconductor testing equipment. The company, a spinout from the Technical University of Munich, also raised €15 million in equity.
Their groundbreaking technology compresses chip defect detection from weeks to a mere two minutes, without halting production lines. This rapid inspection process aims to save chipmakers hundreds of millions of dollars, with the hardware typically paying for itself within months.
The system utilizes synthetic diamonds to detect defects through all chip layers, a crucial advantage as chips become increasingly multi-layered for enhanced performance in applications like AI data centers.
QuantumDiamonds has already expanded internationally, opening a hub in Taiwan and completing deployments in Taiwan and the U.S. The company plans to double its engineering team in Munich over the next year.
