Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon X2 Plus laptop processor, a scaled-down variant of its flagship X2 Elite chip. This processor is slated for the upcoming generation of Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs, aiming to enhance artificial intelligence capabilities.
The Snapdragon X2 Plus integrates a third-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, available in configurations of six or ten cores. This offers substantial performance improvements, with single-core speeds up to 35% faster and multi-core performance gains of up to 17% compared to its predecessor. The integrated Adreno GPU has also been upgraded, promising up to 29% better performance.
This release positions Qualcomm to cater to a broader range of laptop users seeking advanced AI features. The Snapdragon X2 Elite, unveiled in September, features a higher core count and an NPU capable of 80 TOPS, while the X2 Plus focuses on delivering efficient performance for mainstream AI tasks.
