Proton VPN Arrives on Snap Store, With Caveats

Proton VPN is now officially available on the Snap Store, providing Linux users with a straightforward one-click installation. Published directly by Proton AG, this release offers a verified and trustworthy method for accessing the VPN service on Ubuntu and other compatible distributions.

Despite the ease of installation, this initial Snap package has certain limitations. Key features like split tunneling and the Stealth protocol are not included in this version, a decision attributed to sandboxing restrictions. Furthermore, support for ARM hardware is currently unavailable, though Proton is monitoring user demand.

This Snap launch is part of Proton's ongoing commitment to its Linux user base, with recent months seeing significant improvements. These include a revamped graphical interface and enhanced command-line tools for advanced users, demonstrating a drive to equalize features across platforms.
