16 Dec
Summary
- Pornhub data breach involves third-party analytics firm Mixpanel.
- Hackers ShinyHunters claim access to 94GB of user viewing data.
- Pornhub urges users to monitor accounts for suspicious activity.

A significant data breach has affected Pornhub customers, stemming from a security incident at its former analytics vendor, Mixpanel. The hacker group ShinyHunters has claimed responsibility, asserting they obtained 94GB of sensitive data pertaining to Pornhub Premium users. This alleged data includes viewing history, keywords, and personal details.
Mixpanel, however, has contested this, suggesting the data may not be linked to their platform's recent breach. They indicated that the data was accessed by a legitimate employee of Pornhub's parent company in 2023. Despite this, ShinyHunters has reportedly threatened to release the stolen information if a ransom is not paid.
Pornhub has acknowledged the incident, specifying it impacted a limited set of analytics events for some users and was not a breach of its own systems. The company is conducting an internal investigation and advises its users to stay vigilant, monitor their accounts for suspicious activity, and be cautious of phishing attempts.
