Polestar Drivers Get Cutting-Edge Lane Guidance from Google Maps

As of November 15th, 2025, Polestar has integrated Google Maps' live lane guidance feature into its head-up display, providing drivers with a cutting-edge navigation experience. The new system uses on-device artificial intelligence to analyze the car's position in relation to lane markings, road signs, and other visual cues, fusing this data with Google Maps navigation information.

This allows the system to provide clear, real-time guidance on which lane the driver should be in to make an upcoming exit or turn. Rather than glancing at a center screen or smartphone at the last moment, drivers now have a visual representation of the lane layout right in their line of sight. The system highlights the correct lanes and calls out the car's current position, giving audio alerts if the driver needs to change lanes.

Polestar sees this feature as a key part of its commitment to making driving calmer, safer, and more predictable. Meanwhile, Google is framing the rollout as a benchmark moment for in-car navigation and AI technology. Polestar 4 owners in the US and Sweden will begin receiving the new lane guidance system through an over-the-air software update in the coming months, with more markets to follow.
