Polestar estimates that users of dcbel's Ara system could reduce their annual charging expenses by as much as $1,300 and gain a reliable energy backup for up to ten days during blackouts.

This bi-directional charging capability is not new to the EV market, having been featured in models like the Ford F-150 Lightning, GM's EV lineup, and the Nissan Leaf. While this marks Polestar's first US offering of the feature, the company previously launched a similar service in Germany. Polestar has expressed its commitment to further developing these capabilities for future models.
