The PocketBook Q has been introduced as a new phone-sized ereader, entering a market segment that includes devices like the Boox Palma series. It features a 5.84-inch E Ink Carta 1300 touchscreen with a resolution of 788 x 1576 pixels.
The ereader measures 154 x 75.8 x 6.5mm and weighs 130g, positioning it as slimmer and lighter than comparable devices. It comes with 1GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 1,550mAh battery. An IPX4 rating provides resistance to splashes and moisture, and a text-to-speech tool is included.
While it offers pre-installed apps like a bookstore and browser, the PocketBook Q runs on PocketBook OS, a Linux-based system, rather than Android. This design choice aims to minimize distractions for readers. The device will be available in late fall, priced at $235 / £175 (around AU$330).
