Summary
- Pixel Buds Pro 2 offer superior sound, ANC, and comfort over headphones.
- These earbuds provide a full suite of controls, unlike many small competitors.
- Google's earbuds boast eight hours of playback with ANC on, plus 30 more with the case.
The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 have emerged as a significant contender in the personal audio space, effectively replacing traditional headphones for many travelers. These earbuds are lauded for their exceptional comfort and snug fit, designed to remain secure even during physical activity.
Despite their small size, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 do not compromise on essential features. They offer a comprehensive set of tap and swipe controls for playback, active noise cancellation (ANC), and volume adjustments. Sound quality is a standout feature, providing detailed audio with balanced bass, clear vocals, and energetic treble, rivaling that of over-ear headphones.
The active noise cancellation is highly effective, aided by an excellent in-ear seal that provides strong passive noise isolation. Users can expect significant noise reduction on flights and complete immersion when listening to music. Battery life is also superb, with up to eight hours of playback with ANC enabled, and an additional 30 hours provided by the charging case.
Additional features include conversation detection, which pauses audio when the user speaks, and Gemini Live, an integrated conversational Google Assistant. While Gemini Live is still undergoing refinement, the core functionalities of the Pixel Buds Pro 2—comfort, sound, ANC, and battery life—make them a compelling choice for those seeking to pack lighter without sacrificing audio quality.
