Philips Hue Lights React Live to World Cup Action
10 May
Summary
- Philips Hue launches Sports Live feature for World Cup.
- Lights sync in real-time to live match data without extra hardware.
- Feature supports goals, cards, and team colors with fine-tuning.

Philips Hue is set to enhance the World Cup viewing experience with its new Sports Live feature, scheduled to launch just in time for the tournament starting on Thursday, June 11. This innovative system syncs smart lights directly with live match data, reacting to key events such as goals, yellow cards, and red cards.
Unlike previous iterations requiring extra hardware like a TV or Sync Box, Sports Live operates solely through the Hue app and existing smart lights. The feature is designed to provide a real-time experience, with Signify stating that users can fine-tune timings to account for broadcasting delays. Lighting effects will pause if the action is paused and resume syncing with live events upon resuming playback.
Sports Live promises extensive support for an unlimited number of smart lights. Additionally, users will have the ability to personalize the experience by selecting a favorite team, integrating its primary strip color into the lighting effects. The feature is anticipated for availability throughout the World Cup 2026.
