Perplexity AI: Now Free for All Mac Users!

Perplexity AI has expanded access to its Personal Computer assistant, making it available to all macOS users. Previously exclusive to the higher-tier Max plan, this AI assistant can now be utilized by any Mac owner for everyday tasks, including query processing, attachment management, and dictation.

This AI tool is designed to perform a variety of functions, leveraging local files, other applications, web access, and Perplexity's own server infrastructure. It employs different AI models, such as Gemini for research and Nano Banana for image tasks, to efficiently handle user requests, reducing the computational load on individual Macs.

Perplexity emphasizes that the assistant's operations are auditable and reversible. This feature offers users peace of mind, mitigating concerns about accidental data loss or unintended system changes. The assistant can be operated continuously, even on a Mac mini, and remotely managed via an iPhone.
