OpenAI Brings Powerful Voice AI Workflows to Your Phone

OpenAI has introduced voice-based agentic features to its mobile application, enabling users to initiate sophisticated workflows such as document drafting and email summarization. This expansion follows the recent integration of its GPT-Live model into the desktop version, which already supported voice commands for various tasks.

This new mobile functionality grants Plus and Pro subscribers access to the Work tab, allowing them to create documents, compose emails, and summarize messages directly from their phones. These premium users can also build websites, develop presentations, and utilize the cloud browser. Free and Go users will benefit from voice-enabled access to plugins and connected applications.

The company also stated that voice conversations within ChatGPT will feature richer text outputs. Plus users will experience seamless switching between voice and text interactions and can begin tasks on mobile to resume on desktop. This move by OpenAI comes as competitors like Anthropic also focus on improving mobile and desktop integration.
