OpenAI is making a significant move into the workplace software market, introducing new ChatGPT features that directly compete with offerings from tech giants like Microsoft. These recent advancements were unveiled at OpenAI's Dev Day conference.
The lab announced Spaces, a dedicated collaborative environment within ChatGPT. This feature allows teams to work alongside their AI agents, known as Dots, on various professional tasks. It aims to centralize project pages and files, offering a dynamic alternative to traditional cloud storage.
Further challenging existing tools, OpenAI presented Pages, a novel document processor. Described as built for both human and AI collaboration, it enables users to write, research, generate charts, and create images within a single application. This positions it as a direct competitor to applications like Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
OpenAI also introduced collaborative slides, its version of presentation software. These slides can be generated simply by speaking about the content within ChatGPT. Multiple users and AI agents can then simultaneously edit and comment on these presentations, streamlining the creative and review process.
