OpenAI is set to release a new hardware accessory for its AI-powered coding tool, Codex, on July 15th. The company teased the device on X, showcasing a square-shaped gadget with several buttons, hinting at an upgrade for "favorite Codex shortcuts." This upcoming product is distinct from the larger, more mysterious AI device being developed in partnership with former Apple designer Jony Ive.

The new device is a collaboration with Work Louder, known for its mechanical keyboards and macro pads. The visual in the teaser resembles Work Louder's Creator Micro 2, a macro pad featuring customizable switches and a joystick. Such devices allow users to assign custom shortcuts for various applications, enhancing workflow efficiency for tasks like coding or design.
