NymVPN iOS Update: New Privacy vs. Performance Controls

Nym Technologies has rolled out a significant update for its NymVPN iOS application, integrating new features for enhanced privacy and user convenience. The update focuses on providing users with greater control over the balance between network security and performance.

A standout feature is "Server Families," an alert system designed to inform users if their selected mixnet servers originate from the same operator or subnet. This empowers users to actively maintain the network's decentralization by choosing servers from diverse operators for each node.

Furthermore, a beta version of "Mixnet Tuning" has been introduced, offering users the ability to fine-tune the trade-off between anonymity and privacy. This feature allows adjustments to decoy traffic and packet mixing profiles, impacting latency and obfuscation levels.

Quality-of-life improvements also include the ability to disguise the app icon as a calculator or notepad, enhancing user privacy. Bug fixes address issues with incorrect subscription data display. While Nym states daily data allowances have increased and usability in restricted territories has improved, specific details are pending confirmation.
