Nvidia has introduced the RTX Spark, an ARM-based superchip designed for Windows on ARM laptops. This new chip, revealed in May 2026, aims to deliver strong AI capabilities and high performance for both creators and gamers, particularly in slim and compact devices.
Demonstrated at Gamescom 2026, an HP OmniBook Ultra 16 laptop equipped with RTX Spark ran Gearbox Interactive's Borderlands 4 at frame rates exceeding 60 FPS. This was achieved with the assistance of Nvidia's Frame Generation technology, with minimal input delay reported.
Other RTX Spark laptops at Nvidia's booth showcased smooth performance in titles like 007 First Light and Arc Raiders, suggesting broad gaming viability. Nvidia has also expressed openness to partnering with handheld gaming PC manufacturers to utilize the RTX Spark superchip.
This move could significantly benefit handhelds, potentially integrating DLSS technology for improved visual quality and performance on smaller screens, similar to its use in the Nintendo Switch 2. However, balancing performance with battery life, power consumption, and pricing remains a key challenge for such devices.
