Nvidia RTX 50 Super: Back from the Brink?
5 Jun
Summary
- RTX 50 Super GPUs may launch in late 2026 with 50% more VRAM.
- Upcoming cards will feature significantly higher power consumption.
- Pricing remains a major concern for potential buyers.

Nvidia's highly anticipated RTX 50 Super series, previously thought to be delayed or canceled, is reportedly back on track for a launch in late 2026. Leaks suggest these new graphics cards will feature a 50% increase in VRAM compared to their predecessors. Specifically, the RTX 5080 Super is rumored to come with 24GB, the 5070 Ti Super also with 24GB, and the 5070 Super with 18GB. This enhanced memory capacity is expected to result in a significant rise in thermal design power (TDP). The RTX 5080 Super could draw as much as 415W, the 5070 Ti Super 350W, and the 5070 Super 275W. Data on the RTX 5060 Super's TDP is not yet available. The timing of a potential launch remains uncertain, with some speculation pointing towards a holiday release in 2026, possibly following a debut at GTC Berlin in October. However, this would represent a relatively late release window for the year. A major concern for consumers is the anticipated pricing. Non-Super RTX 50-series cards with increased memory have consistently sold above their suggested retail prices. For example, the RTX 5080, launched at $1,000, is currently found for at least $1,350, while the RTX 5070 Ti, with a $750 MSRP, is selling for around $970. Given this trend, the RTX 50-Super graphics cards, with their added memory, are expected to be considerably more expensive than current GPU prices, potentially limiting their market appeal despite the performance upgrades.
