Nvidia Skips RTX 2026 Launch for AI Focus
9 Jan
Summary
- Nvidia revealed DLSS 4.5 and AI gaming concepts at CES 2026.
- New RTX 6000 series graphics cards are expected in late 2027.
- RTX 50 Super card launch is postponed due to market challenges.

At CES 2026, Nvidia shifted focus from new hardware releases to advancements in artificial intelligence and gaming technologies. The company unveiled DLSS 4.5 and discussed future AI gaming GPU possibilities, disappointing those expecting a reveal of the next generation of RTX graphics cards. This strategic pivot indicates a longer wait for consumers.
Leaked information suggests the highly anticipated RTX 6000 series, codenamed 'Rubin,' is now slated for release in the second half of 2027. These cards will reportedly utilize the GR20x GPU family, with the core GPU for the 'Rubin' platform identified as GR212, which is not intended for the consumer GeForce division.
Further complicating the graphics card landscape, the launch of Nvidia's RTX 50 Super series is reportedly postponed. This delay is a consequence of persistent hardware market challenges, including escalating costs and persistent supply bottlenecks. Both Nvidia and AMD are reportedly exploring the possibility of reintroducing older GPU architectures to mitigate these economic pressures.
