Nova Scotia has seen significant adoption of AI scribe technology, with over 440 medical professionals utilizing it for patient visit recordings. Launched last June, this pilot program offers free AI documentation tools, converting patient conversations into real-time summaries. This initiative is supported by Doctors Nova Scotia, with its president expressing strong backing for technologies enhancing patient care and physician well-being.
Family physician Dr. Ajantha Jayabarathan shared that the Mika AI scribe, approved for provincial use, significantly cuts down on post-visit note-taking time. She reports that approximately 90% of transcriptions are accurate, enriching patient notes with greater detail. However, clinicians must review and edit all AI outputs for accuracy, and patients retain the right to revoke consent at any time.
