Nothing has accelerated its software deployment, launching the stable Nothing OS 5.0 update, built on Android 17, for the Nothing Phone 3a, 3a Pro, 4a, and 4a Pro. This substantial 3.09 GB over-the-air update was released ahead of its scheduled November launch.
The update introduces a visual refresh with a "Translucent" theme, a split notification panel, and new desktop widgets. A dedicated Glyph app now manages the signature rear lighting controls, enhancing user customization for the device's unique features.
Photography sees improvements with a boosted native Camera app and the introduction of a Dual-view Video mode. Specific models receive tailored upgrades: Phone 3a users gain advanced image tuning, while Phone 4a series devices benefit from faster voice transcription.
Underneath the custom interface lie Android 17's core privacy and system enhancements, including a new AI processing indicator. Following this mid-range release and the earlier flagship update, Nothing plans to deploy Nothing OS 5.0 to older models like the Phone 2a and 2a Plus by mid-November.
