- Unauthorized version changed name to Nextpad++ for Mac.

The creator of the widely-used Windows text editor Notepad++, Don Ho, has strongly condemned an unauthorized Mac version of his software. Ho publicly declared the Mac edition a "Trademark Violation," stating it has no affiliation with the original project.
This Mac application was developed by Andrey Letov, who initially presented it as "Notepad++ for Mac" and utilized the distinctive chameleon logo. Despite Letov's claims of an "independent community port," the similarities led to widespread belief that it was an official release, even prompting media attention.
Ho took issue with the unauthorized use of the Notepad++ name and logo, as well as the misrepresentation on the author's page. Letov explained his intent was to credit the original creator and expand the Notepad++ brand, acknowledging the GPL license allows for ports and forks.
However, Ho insisted the branding was confusing and reported the website to its CDN provider. Letov subsequently agreed to rename the application to Nextpad++ for Mac and change the logo to a frog, with a domain name change to nextpad.org also planned.
