Summary
- Nigeria issues seven-year satellite permits to major companies.
- Amazon's Kuiper, NSLComm's BeetleSat, and Satelio IoT approved.
- Permits aim to expand Nigeria's space-based broadband services.

Nigeria is expanding its satellite broadband infrastructure by issuing seven-year permits to key players in the space communications sector. Amazon's Kuiper Systems, NSLComm's BeetleSat, and Germany-based Satelio IoT Services have all received licenses, joining SpaceX in offering advanced space-based internet services within the country.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) granted these permits under its commercial satellite communications guidelines, a framework designed to attract investment. This initiative advances the NCC's objective to open Africa's largest telecoms market to next-generation non-geostationary satellite systems, enhancing connectivity across the nation.
Amazon's Kuiper Systems is cleared to beam Ka-band services from February 2026 to February 2033. NSLComm's BeetleSat-1 network and Satelio IoT's system also received similar approvals, supporting Nigeria's push to accelerate satellite broadband expansion and adhere to international standards.
