AMD CEO Sparks Next-Gen Xbox Launch Speculation
4 Feb
Summary
- AMD CEO suggested next-gen Xbox launch in 2027.
- Company revenue from game consoles to fall in 2026.
- Microsoft and AMD co-engineering next-gen Xbox silicon.

During a recent earnings call, AMD CEO Lisa Su seemingly revealed that Microsoft's next-generation Xbox console is slated for a 2027 launch. Su stated that development of the new Xbox, powered by an AMD semi-custom SoC, is progressing well for this target release.
This announcement comes as AMD projects a significant double-digit percentage decrease in revenue from its semi-custom chip business in 2026. This projection is typical as the current console generation, which launched in November 2020, approaches its five-year mark.
Microsoft and AMD have been deepening their partnership, with plans to co-engineer silicon for a portfolio of devices, including future Xbox consoles. This collaboration suggests the development of both traditional home consoles and potentially portable handheld devices.
Beyond Xbox, AMD also provides processors for Valve's Steam Deck and is involved with the upcoming Steam Machine, expected to launch early in 2026.
