Summary
- Next-gen Fortuner spotted testing with ADAS hardware.
- Updated IMV platform and existing powertrains expected.
- Global debut anticipated mid-2026, India launch late 2026.

The Toyota Fortuner is set for a significant generational update, with development well underway as evidenced by test mules seen in Thailand. The upcoming model will feature a more squared-off, rugged silhouette with a flatter bonnet and an enlarged grille, housing a distinctive split-headlamp design. Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) are integrated, signaling a leap in safety technology.
The next-generation Fortuner will utilize the updated Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) ladder-frame platform. Powertrain options are expected to include the familiar 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel engines, with the latter possibly retaining its 48V mild-hybrid system. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be available, with four-wheel drive continuing on higher trims.
Inside, substantial upgrades are anticipated, including a digital driver display and a larger touchscreen infotainment system, potentially mirroring the layout found in the new Hilux. The global debut is projected for mid-2026, with the Indian market expected to see the new model by late 2026 or early 2027, positioning it against key competitors.
