Robots Get Smarter: New AI Sees, Hears, and Feels
14 Oct
Summary
- Neuron AI integrates multiple senses for robot perception.
- The model remembers objects even when they disappear.
- Physical AI is developed and trained in Germany.
NEURA Robotics has unveiled Neuron AI, a multimodal foundation model poised to revolutionize Physical AI. This innovative system moves beyond camera-only inputs by integrating 3D vision, tactile sensing, audio, robot state, and language processing. It allows robots to perceive the physical world more comprehensively, much like humans do, by combining sight with touch and sound.
Neuron AI's key innovation lies in its ability to retain context and object permanence, remembering items even when they are no longer in a robot's direct line of sight. This memory function is crucial for robots operating in continuous physical environments. The model is trained on a rich dataset comprising real-world robot interactions, simulation-amplified data, and human demonstrations.
Developed and trained in-house in Metzingen, Germany, Neuron AI represents a significant advancement in robotics. NEURA Robotics is scheduled to demonstrate its humanoid robot, 4NE1, performing an eleven-minute laundry-handling sequence at NVIDIA GTC Berlin 2026, showcasing the integrated capabilities of Neuron AI in a complex, real-world task.
