- The community vote will determine if MULTI/DEX becomes ownerless.

DFINITY announced the launch of MULTI/DEX, a fully on-chain exchange built on the Internet Computer, which began Play Mode on July 11, 2026. Within just two days, simulated trading volume exceeded $243 million. This innovative platform operates entirely on the Internet Computer, featuring major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana against an ICPUSD asset.
MULTI/DEX integrates a central limit order book with a market-making AMM, allowing traders to place spot orders or use up to 10x leverage. All balances are dummy assets, meaning no real money is at risk during this trial phase. The exchange recorded significant activity, with over $162 million in volume and more than $129,000 in fees on its initial day.
The future control of MULTI/DEX hinges on a community vote. A prior NNS proposal established a dedicated subnet for the exchange. The decisive vote on whether to grant autonomous, ownerless execution to the Network Nervous System is still pending, and no date has been set.
As of July 13, 2026, the platform’s dashboard showed $243.2 million in 24-hour volume. The SOL market led daily activity with $85.9 million, followed by BTC, ETH, and ICP. Total value locked across seeded pools reached $2.7 million, with $352,061 in lifetime fees.
