MSI Laptop: Stylus Woes and Trackpad Troubles

MSI's Prestige 14 Flip AI+ 2-in-1 laptop offers a built-in stylus and a folding OLED touchscreen, aiming for broad utility. However, its design introduces several frustrations. The integrated stylus struggles with a magnetic enclosure, often requiring forceful insertion, and its thin profile may not suit artists.

The laptop's build quality presents further challenges. Its mechanical trackpad's design leads to accidental gesture activations, such as constant screen dimming during typing. Furthermore, the OLED screen, while offering good contrast, is noted as too dim for bright environments and has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 with a 60Hz refresh rate, which is considered inadequate for its $1,700 price point.

Despite these drawbacks, the Prestige 14 Flip AI+ boasts strong system performance and a good selection of ports, including two USB-A, an HDMI, and two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports. It also features an Intel Core Ultra Series 3 chip, offering capable integrated graphics. Battery life is impressive, typically lasting a full workday.

For $1,700, users expect a more refined experience. While the laptop offers a powerful Intel Core Ultra X7 358H chip and competitive graphics performance against some competitors, its user experience is hampered by a dim screen and a finicky trackpad. MSI is close to a solid everyday laptop, but design refinements are needed.
