Casio has introduced Moflin, a robot pet designed to mimic the experience of owning a guinea pig. This compact, cuddly companion is covered in soft fur and features sensors that enable it to respond to petting and cuddling.
Moflin is equipped with a speaker and actuators, allowing it to move, chirp, and squeak. Beyond simple reactions, Moflin remembers user interactions and gradually develops a unique personality, unlocking new sounds and movements as its character evolves.
The robot pet can also learn to recognize and respond to its owner's voice. Users can monitor Moflin's emotional state and interaction logs through the MofliLife app, which also provides a diary summarizing the pet's feelings.
While Moflin offers a novel pet ownership experience, it comes at a price of $429 / £369. The robot charges wirelessly on its Moflin Bed and can operate for approximately five hours between charges, entering sleep mode after dark.
