Mobvoi Silent on Future of Wear OS Smartwatches

The future of Mobvoi's presence in the smartwatch market is uncertain as the brand has seemingly phased out its wearable offerings. The dedicated smartwatch section has been removed from the Mobvoi website, with the company now focusing on treadmill and walking pad products. This strategic shift has made many of their TicWatch models difficult to find, with listings on Amazon and the Mobvoi site often stating 'currently unavailable' or 'not available at the moment'.

Mobvoi has provided no official confirmation regarding the discontinuation of the TicWatch brand. A spokesperson stated they have no new information to announce about the lineup, while also confirming that existing devices will continue to receive essential support. However, details on which specific devices will receive further updates, or the extent of that support, remain unclear, especially given Mobvoi's history of slow software updates.

This potential departure leaves the Wear OS ecosystem with fewer options, particularly in the US. Following exits from brands like Fossil and Tag Heuer, the remaining major Wear OS smartwatch sellers in the US are Google's Pixel Watch, Samsung's Galaxy Watch, and OnePlus. Other regions still see Wear OS devices from Oppo and Xiaomi.
