Mobileye Launches Own Robotaxi Service in 2027

Mobileye Global is set to launch its proprietary robotaxi service in the United States, beginning in 2027. The company plans to deploy approximately 100 autonomous vehicles in a major U.S. city, with ambitious goals to expand its fleet to around 17,000 units over the subsequent five years. This initiative represents a significant step, placing Mobileye in direct competition with established players such as Waymo, Zoox, and Tesla in the burgeoning autonomous mobility sector.

The self-driving technology supplier will integrate its Mobileye Drive system with its subsidiary Moovit's digital infrastructure, which includes urban mobility data and trip-planning tools. While Mobileye will own and operate the ride-hailing service through a new business division, it will collaborate with external vehicle platform manufacturers and fleet integration partners, rather than producing its own vehicles.

Company leadership stated that operating its own service will accelerate adoption and provide valuable operational experience, demonstrating the full capabilities of autonomous mobility. This venture is not expected to negatively impact existing client relationships, though successful execution and clear separation of data, customer economics, and engineering focus will be critical. The robotaxi operations are intended to complement, rather than replace, Mobileye's core business of supplying autonomous driving technology to automakers.
