Microsoft Unites Copilot Teams Under One Leader
17 Mar
Summary
- Microsoft merges personal and corporate Copilot teams.
- Jacob Andreou will lead the unified Copilot development.
- Samsung discontinues its high-priced Galaxy Z TriFold.
Microsoft is streamlining its artificial intelligence efforts by merging the teams responsible for developing Copilot for consumers and businesses. Jacob Andreou, who joined Microsoft in 2025, will now lead this unified development, reporting directly to CEO Satya Nadella. This consolidation signals Microsoft's commitment to accelerating the integration of its AI assistant across its product ecosystem.
Mustafa Suleyman, the current chief executive of Microsoft AI, will shift his focus to AI model development. This organizational adjustment comes as Microsoft, a key partner of OpenAI, also ramps up its internal AI model development to ensure long-term technological independence.
Separately, Samsung Electronics is discontinuing sales of its high-end Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone, approximately three months after its launch. The $2,899 device, featuring a dual-hinge design that unfurls into a 10-inch tablet, is being phased out, starting with its home market in South Korea and followed by the US. This move suggests the TriFold was primarily an experimental showcase of Samsung's engineering capabilities rather than a commercially intended flagship.
Samsung has not yet confirmed if a successor to the TriFold will be developed, citing manufacturing complexities. However, features like its wide aspect ratio could be integrated into more affordable foldable models. Concurrently, Samsung is rolling out its Galaxy S26 Ultra, enhanced with new AI capabilities and a Privacy Display.
