Meta Glasses Get AI Hearing Boost & Spotify Magic
17 Dec
Summary
- Smart glasses now amplify voices in noisy environments.
- New feature allows music playback based on visual input.
- Updates roll out to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses.

Meta is enhancing its smart glasses with significant software updates designed to improve user experience. A standout feature is the AI-driven conversation focus, which uses open-ear speakers to amplify the voice of the person the wearer is speaking to, especially in loud environments. Users can adjust this amplification, offering a more personalized and practical hearing assistance tool.
The smart glasses also gain a new entertainment feature. Integrated with Spotify, the glasses can now identify visual cues, such as album art or festive decorations, and play matching music. This feature, while more of a novelty, showcases Meta's exploration of connecting visual perception with in-app actions.
These updates, part of software version 21, are initially available to users in the U.S. and Canada for the conversation focus feature. The Spotify integration will be available in English across a broader international market. Meta plans a wider rollout after an initial early access phase.
