Meta Launches New AI Business Unit

Meta has announced the creation of a new business unit focused on delivering AI products and services to enterprise clients. Chirantan "CJ" Desai, previously the CEO of MongoDB, has been appointed as the chief enterprise platform officer to spearhead this initiative, reporting directly to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The Meta Enterprise Platform will initially consolidate several AI offerings, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, and Muse Code. This expansion marks a significant shift, enabling businesses to deploy Meta's AI stack for their own operational needs rather than solely for customer engagement.

While the announcement outlines Meta's strategy, specifics regarding available products, pricing, and administrative controls for enterprise customers remain undisclosed. Desai's extensive background in enterprise software sales, including prior roles at Cloudflare and ServiceNow, is expected to be crucial for this new venture.

Meta's consumer Muse agent, launched recently, has seen substantial downloads, reaching over 3.4 million by September 24, 2026. Despite this consumer momentum, questions persist about how the enterprise offering will manage shared company data, employee permissions, and approval processes.

This is not Meta's first foray into enterprise solutions. The company previously offered Workplace, an internal communications product, which is set to be discontinued in August 2025, and Horizon Workrooms, a collaboration app, which shut down in February 2026. These past exits raise questions about Meta's long-term commitments to its enterprise offerings.
