Meta's Muse Wonder AI Challenges ChatGPT

Meta has introduced Muse Wonder, a sophisticated new artificial intelligence model that aims to rival established players like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude. This advanced AI is reported to be competitive in tasks ranging from coding assistance to navigating intricate legal and financial questions.

The development represents a significant stride for Meta's AI capabilities, stemming from a focused 14-month overhaul of its AI division. This new model, internally codenamed "Watermelon," is designed to excel in personal and professional agentic applications.

Meta AI Chief Alexandr Wang emphasized a strategic focus on broad consumer use cases rather than narrowly targeting coding tasks, a common approach among competitors. This differentiated strategy seeks to enhance the personal-agent use case for consumers.

Muse Wonder is currently accessible to developers via the Meta Model API and Muse Code. Furthermore, it is slated to become the core technology powering the premium subscription tier of Meta's existing Muse personal AI agent application.

The Muse personal AI agent, launched on September 8, achieved remarkable adoption, surpassing 5 million downloads within 22 days, outpacing competitors like ChatGPT and Claude. The agent offers functionalities such as email composition, travel booking, form completion, and direct purchasing on behalf of users. Meta has also expanded Muse's capabilities with tools for small business owners, integrating with platforms like Canva and Slack.
