Meta Acquires AI Wearable Maker Limitless

Meta has acquired Limitless, the developer of the AI-powered "Pendant" wearable device, as it aims to broaden its consumer hardware offerings. The company, known for its AI-driven productivity software and hardware, plans to leverage its expertise to contribute to Meta's vision of "personal superintelligence."

Limitless' primary product, the Pendant, functions as a clip-on microphone that captures audio throughout the day, transforming it into a searchable database via chatbot interaction. While Meta focuses on future integrations, Limitless assures existing customers that their service will be maintained for at least one year, with no subscription fees required.

This acquisition aligns with a growing trend of AI wearables focused on audio transcription and summarization. Meta's move, alongside Amazon's similar acquisition of Bee, suggests a strategic push into the AI-enabled wearable market, potentially complementing existing products like Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.
