Meross introduces the MS605, a battery-powered version of its presence sensor, offering enhanced installation flexibility. Powered by a single CR123A battery, it can operate for up to three years, though heavy use may reduce battery life. This new model supports Matter over Thread, a low-power protocol, requiring a Thread-capable hub for integration with smart home systems like Google Home, Apple Home, or Alexa.
The MS605 retains the articulated mounting plate of its predecessor, allowing for versatile positioning. Its design has been upgraded with an IP67 waterproof rating, making it suitable for outdoor deployment. The sensor employs a combination of light, passive infrared (PIR), and 24GHz mmWave radar sensors to accurately detect motion and stationary presence, distinguishing human activity from environmental movements.
While the switch to battery power brings convenience, it does reduce the sensor's detection range. Motion detection is now effective up to 6 meters, and presence detection up to 4 meters, compared to the previous model's capabilities.
