Summary
- New EQS boasts 575 miles of range with innovative battery chemistry.
- Steer-by-wire technology offers enhanced maneuverability and comfort.
- An AI-powered operating system and 55-inch Hyperscreen debut.

Mercedes-Benz is reintroducing its electric EQS sedan to the US market, scheduled to arrive in the second half of 2026. This revamped model promises an impressive range estimate of 575 miles on the WLTP cycle, achieved through a new battery chemistry blending silicon oxide with graphite for the anodes.
The 2027 EQS will feature an 800-volt architecture, enabling DC fast charging up to 350 kW, adding 200 miles of range in just 10 minutes. A notable innovation is the introduction of steer-by-wire technology, allowing for electronic steering which could enhance maneuverability and comfort, with both a steering yoke and traditional wheel options available.
Refinements to the aerodynamic 'blob-like' design contribute to an industry-leading drag coefficient of 0.20. The vehicle will also feature enhanced regenerative braking and Mercedes' new MB.OS operating system, powered by AI for personalized features and over-the-air updates. The standard 55-inch Hyperscreen sports a 'Zero Layer' interface.
Available in rear-wheel drive (EQS 450+) and all-wheel drive (EQS 500 4MATIC, EQS 580 4MATIC) configurations, the latter includes an Integrated Disconnect Unit for improved efficiency. Standard MB.Drive Assist offers advanced driver assistance features, though it does not include the hands-free Drive Pilot Assist.
